Assignment 18A – Create a Customer Avatar

Who is the avatar- My avatar is a mom. She is a motherly figure everyone needs- offers a shoulder to cry on, a hug and a warm, home-cooked meal. She has a full-time job, but is always there for her kids, loves them unconditionally ad is there for every event they have. She loves to make new meals for her family, has an adventurous taste in food and is willing to try any food at least once. Some of us may have had a childhood friend’s mom (or a current friend’s mom) that treats us like family, that may have been your mom, or even your aunt. Whether that motherly figure be your friend’s mom, your grandma, your aunt, your mom, whoever the motherly figure is in your life, she embodies comfort and home. That is the avatar

·      What kind of hobbies does your customer have?

o   She loves to bake or try new recipes. She likes to volunteer in her free time with food banks or other nonprofits.

·       What kind of car do they tend to drive? (What color is it?)

o   She drives a gunmetal Lexus IS 250 (a great, reliable choice that will not disappoint, just like her) .

·      What TV shows do they watch?

o    White Collar, The Best Thing I Ever Ate, How I Met Your Mother

·      Do they have children? Are any of them adopted?

o   Four children- a boy adopted from Ghana (9 years old), a girl adopted from China (10 years old), a girl of her own (9 years old) and a boy of her own (11 years old).

·      What are their favorite books, and who are their favorite politicians?

o   A Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl, an inspiring and heart touching story of a man’s Holocaust experience. She does not like discussing politics (would rather not share) because she knows everyone has their own opinions (she respects that) and can make their own choices.

·       How old are they, how old do they feel?

o   36, but she feels 30 because she works out every other day.

·      What do you have in common with the customer avatar?

o    I have a lot in common with the avatar. I think I try to be that reliable person for everyone in my life. I’m only 20 and not a mom, but I do take care of my friends, make sure they are okay and feed them whenever they are hungry. I love to cook and bake, whenever I feel stressed or need to distract my mind, cooking/baking allows me to go to a relaxed head space.

·      If you have anything in common with the avatar, do you think that is a coincidence? Why?

o   I do not think it’s a coincidence because I see myself in the avatar and possibly strive to be like her one day. I love to cook and bake and experimenting with new foods. I think she is someone everyone needs in their life, just someone you know is always there for you, feeds you and makes a warm homecooked meal to make you feel loves. The best part I think is that she is up to interpretation because that motherly figure varies from person to person. Food is how I connect with people and show them my love, therefore a part of me is tied to this avatar since the solution to the problem I chose, revolves around food.
